White Paws

Motion Interactive Lamp

Sculpture list

“White Paws” is another example that plays the role of a social pet; the object is designed to mimic intriguing cats’ body expressions when their paws are tickled, or tails are rubbed. Using lampshades made from two sides of textures, it turns around to show the inside, like a cat’s fur puffs up and vibrates at various speeds and angles depending on how much the tail of the lamp is stimulated. These expressions are designed to signify the tension between the excitement and agitation of a cat as a response to people’s touch. Thus, the design intends to work as a playful instrument to create a feeling of being with a pet.
